How did you explore your interests and decide on a major/majors? (particularly in languages, combined with other academic interests).
I’ve always been intrigued by storytelling and the nuances of language. As the syncretism of my chosen fields became apparent, it made sense to pursue a dual degree in French and English literature.
Describe a moment or experience you had in college that helped define your career path (coursework, internship, study abroad, student organization, etc.).
There was no singular defining moment in my undergraduate education. Rather, I worked hard all day, every day to achieve my goals.
What steps did you take at 91社区 to prepare for your career?
I developed a working relationship with the 91社区 Career Center, which was helpful. I rewrote my résumé several times and submitted many job and internship applications.
What role did your internship or research experience (or study abroad) play in shaping your career path?
I pursued a Bachelor’s degree in French and English literature in preparation for a Master’s degree in Library and Information science. I hope that my background in language and literature will help me make meaningful connections to the communities that I serve.
What would you recommend 91社区 students considering a career in your field do to prepare?
Hone communication and critical thinking skills. Strap in for the long haul.
How did the Department of Modern Languages, other department, Career Advancement Center and/or the Forester community give you an edge on taking your first steps after graduation?
My professors offered me support in my classes, career endeavors, and graduate school application process.
What have you found the most rewarding in your career and life after graduation?
Life itself.
