Why did you join Eukaryon?: I was eager to collaborate with 91社区's exceptional students in publishing a journal.

What are you most excited for this upcoming issue?: I'm most excited about showcasing the diverse and innovative feature articles written by our students.

Fun Fact: I love the thrill of being in the air, whether it’s through paragliding or skydiving :P

 


Jeremy Levin

Why did you join Eukaryon?: To collaborate and share ideas with like-minded people interested in science.

What are you most excited for this upcoming issue?: Seeing all the new names and faces on the latest cover of Eukaryon's journal.

Fun Fact: I have played the clarinet for 13 years.

Executive Position: Chair of Review Board

Why did you join Eukaryon?: Eukaryon combines my passions for reading & working with people, offering personal & professional growth through diverse topics. I’m excited to advance the journal's mission and help students learn the review process.

What are you most excited for this upcoming issue?: I am excited about the issue as a whole, but it is even more to read all the great works submitted by my peers. I wonder what the cover picture is going to be this year!?

Fun Fact: I am really bad at directions, so I tend to get lost in new and not so new places that I get to visit.

Doyinsola Ogunshola

Major(s): Neuroscience and African American Studies

Executive Position: Assoicate Chair of Review Board

Why did you join Eukaryon?: Undergraduate students deserve accolades for their research. This publication not only provides that but serves as an incentive for students to pursue research in the future. It brings me joy to contribute to this phenomenon, as well as learn the ins and outs of academic publishing. The experience is simply invaluable and like no other.

What are you most excited about for this upcoming issue?: The increase in the quality, diversity and interdisciplinary nature of the publications.

Fun Fact: I am a descendant of royalty.


Dorothy

Dorothy Breen

Class Year: Junior

Major(s): Biology

Executive Position: Chair of Copy-Edit Board

Why did you join Eukaryon?: Eukaryon provides a unique outlet for LFC students to learn about the scientific publication process
in a way that produces a real journal. I personally enjoy the detail oriented work of Copy-Edit and helping authors produce their best possible work. 

What are you most excited about for this upcoming issue?: I am excited to see how increased post-Covid participation will allow us to continue to grow and improve!

Fun Fact: I have never broken a bone :)


Janitza

Janitza Torres

Major(s): Biology and Spanish

Executive Position: Assoicate Chair of Copy-Edit Board

Why did you join Eukaryon?: I take pride in working alongside my peers who advocate for the journal's success with their diverse experience within the scientific field. It's truly inspiring to see how everyone advocates to advance in scientific research or by applying their knowledge outside of a lecture room.

What are you most excited about for this upcoming issue?: I'm truly excited to see this year's feature articles! I know many peers who have worked in labs over the summer, traveled or worked in clinical settings! I can't wait to see how they apply their experience and connecting it back to our science journal.

Fun Fact: At 7, I was in a traveling African drumming group throughout grade school with the Old Town Music School in Chicago and played at various music festivals. My instrument was the djembe and I still jam out during my free time.


Mac

Shun Yuet, Mac Chan

Major(s): Psychology and Studio Art; Minor: SOAN

Executive Position: Chair of Publication Board

Why did you join Eukaryon?: I joined Eukaryon because science and research is an active progression field, it is my pleasure to be a part of the college science journal. Most importantly, documenting and publishing our peer's research result. I am grateful that I can work with such a dedicated group of people.

What are you most excited about for this upcoming issue?: I am most excited to see the combination of Psyc and Art research, as well as the photography competition.

Fun Fact: I hope that my work in the future can continue to inspire individuals with my passion and dedication.

Hridey Kapoor

Class Year: Senior

Major(s): Neuroscience; Minor: Chemistry

Executive Position: Associate Chair of Publication Board

Why did you join Eukaryon?: I joined Eukaryon to first be able to support the work of my peers and the work they all do in their writing, second being that I enjoy writing, and reading quality pieces of work. Lastly, I get to apply my knowledge in adobe suites of apps to build a final product that tens of thousands will read in years to come!

What are you most excited about for this upcoming issue?: Pushing periodical updates to the Eukaryon website and providing updates from various boards!

Fun Fact: I love to find ways in automating tasks on PC!

Leslie Casares

Class Year: Junior

Major(s): Neuroscience; Minor: Music

Executive Position: Web Manager

Why did you join Eukaryon?: I joined Eukaryon because this esteemed organization not only provides its students with professional and interpersonal skills; it is a great way for life science majors to be able to build community with one another. I love working with other people and I pride myself to build community in a multitude of ways outside of the classroom.

What are you most excited about for this upcoming issue?: I am excited to see our new issue published as well as the redevelopment of our website!

Fun Fact: If I could be any animal in the world, I would be a penguin. I've loved penguins all my life and I find them so fascinating!
