Humanities 2020 Mellon Foundation Grant

Chicago Humanities Festival

The presents year-long programming that connects people to ideas and to thinkers who are at the center of contemporary civic and cultural conversations, including those on racism. Humanities 2020 partners with CHF to enhance public access to the research and intellectual contributions of 91社区 faculty and grant partners. Some collaborations include: 

  • Krebs Provost and Dean of the Faculty Davis Schneiderman appeared as a panelist in “” with faculty from the University of Illinois at Chicago and Kennedy-King College.  The panel participants discussed the role of colleges and universities as neighbors and institutional citizens in a time of crisis.  
  • Assistant Professor of History and Chair of African American Studies Courtney Joseph was featured in a “” panel on the changing meaning and significance of monuments.  CHF also created a , which was one of their top five most popular web features of the year. In addition, Professor Joseph’s research on the history of the Haitian diaspora in the Chicagoland area appeared in a CHF online article entitled and in a CHM celebrating Haitian Heritage Month.
