Rosalind Franklin University Master of Science in Nursing 2+2+2 Pathway with the College of Lake County and 91社区

91社区 will consider for admission into the BA degree program and RFUMS will consider for admission into the pre-licensure MSN degree program students who meet the Admissions Requirements, Regular or Provisional, consistent with the Admissions Procedures, each of which is described below.

Admission Requirements

  1. Admission Requirements from High School—Regular. High school students will be eligible to apply for admission in accordance with the following:  
    1. Gain admittance to the College of Lake County.
    2. Achieve 3.3/4.0 or higher cumulative GPA in high school academic coursework or its equivalency.
    3. Complete three or more years of science, including Biology and Chemistry, with a cumulative B average or its equivalency.
    4. Complete four years of English, including at least one, year-long writing-intensive class, with a cumulative B average or its equivalency as noted in the CLC’s Reading and Writing Readiness policy. High school students who have not fulfilled the writing-intensive requirement before enrolling at CLC will be granted a one-year extension to complete the requirement at CLC.
    5. Complete Advanced Algebra with a cumulative B average or its equivalency as noted in the CLC’s Algebra Readiness policy.
    6. Submit additional information including, but not limited to, LFC Guaranteed Transfer Agreement and RFUMS Health Professions Program short application, essays, and recommendation. Successful applicants will be invited to interview in accordance with the Admissions Procedures below.  
  2. Admission Requirements from High School—Provisional. High school students will be eligible to apply for admission in accordance with the following:
    1. Gain admittance to the College of Lake County.
    2. Achieve 3.0/4.0 or higher cumulative GPA in high school academic coursework or its equivalency.
    3. Complete three or more years of science, including Biology and Chemistry, with a cumulative B average or its equivalency.
    4. Complete four years of English, including at least one, year-long writing-intensive class, with a cumulative B average or its equivalency as noted in the CLC’s Reading and Writing Readiness policy.     7. Meet the conditions set forth in a personalized academic development plan (ADP) covering the first 30 semester hour credits at CLC including, but not limited to, coursework/GPA requirements and academic support. Regular admission will be offered upon satisfactory completion of the ADP and applicable writing requirements if any. Student must also earn cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 at the end of year one at CLC, including 3.0/4.0 GPA in all nursing prerequisite courses as noted in Appendix A.
  3. Admission Requirements from College of Lake County -  CLC students will be eligible to apply for admission in accordance with the following:  
    1. Demonstrate successful progression towards completion of an associate degree from CLC and will have completed studies in areas such as biology, physiology, and microbiology, as specified in Appendix A, by the time of matriculation into LFC.
    2. Have a minimum CLC cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.8 and a prerequisite grade point average of 3.0.
    3. Have a positive recommendation from CLC pre-nursing faculty or assigned academic advisor.
    4. Submit additional information including, but not limited to, LFC Guaranteed Transfer Agreement and RFUMS Health Professions Program short application, essays, and recommendation. Successful applicants will be invited to interview in accordance with the Admissions Procedures below.  
    5. Have met, or will meet prior to matriculation, all other admissions requirements for the BA degree program as outlined in the University catalog at the time of application to LFC.
  4. Eligibility Requirements at 91社区 - Upon enrollment at 91社区, students will be eligible to continue enrollment in the Entry to Nursing Practice Pathways Program in accordance with the following:
    1. Demonstrate successful progression towards completion of a bachelor’s degree from 91社区 and will have completed significant studies in areas such as biology, physiology, and microbiology, as specified in Appendix A, by the time of matriculation into RFUMS.
    2. Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.8 and a prerequisite grade point average of 3.0.
    3. Have a positive recommendation from the 91社区 pre-nursing faculty through successful participation in the major coursework.
    4. Have met, or will meet prior to matriculation, all other admissions requirements for the MSN degree program for pre-licensure candidates as outlined in the University catalog at the time of application to RFUMS except for the Graduate Record Examination requirement, which will be waived, unless the cumulative or prerequisite GPA is below the minimum specified in 3.b above.

Admissions Procedures

The admission procedures will be based on two separate conditions selected by the applicant.

  1. Early Decision Regular Decision - The applicant may ask for an early admission decision during her/his senior year of high school or first year at CLC (early decision); or they may wait and apply during the cycle before any subsequent matriculation to LFC (regular decision).
  2. Regular Matriculation – In general, applicants may matriculate into 91社区 at the end of their second year at CLC. 91社区 students can matriculate to RFUMS at the end of their second year at LFC.
  3. At the start of each academic year, CLC will provide 91社区 and RFUMS with the number of pathway students and year of anticipated application to 91社区 who have indicated their intent to apply for admission to the BA degree program at 91社区.
  4. At the start of each academic year, LFC will provide RFUMS with the number of pathway students and year of anticipated application to RFUMS who have indicated their intent to apply for admission to the MSN degree program at RFUMS and the number of currently enrolled pathway students from CLC who have maintained their eligibility while at LFC.
  5. High school and CLC students will fill out the 91社区 Guaranteed Transfer Agreement and Health Professions Program short application, accessible via RFU, to indicate their intention of applying to the MSN degree program for pre-licensure candidates in the current or a future application cycle, regardless of decision type.
    1. The short app for this pathway will include essays on topics including, but not limited to, diversity, challenges overcome, and intent for a career in nursing.
  6. All CLC students seeking admission to the BA degree at LFC shall be required to submit a full transfer application through the 91社区 website or designated application service during the application cycle for desired matriculation year in which a student would begin coursework at 91社区.
  7. All 91社区 students seeking admission to the MSN degree at RFUMS shall be required to submit a full application through a centralized application service during the application cycle for desired matriculation year in which a student would begin coursework at RFUMS.
  8. All students seeking admission to the MSN degree program for pre-licensure candidates who meet the above-mentioned requirements will be invited to participate in interviews at 91社区 and RFUMS. All candidates seeking early admission to the Program must satisfactorily complete annual program reviews.
    1. Interviews will be conducted jointly with a representative from each of the Parties to this Agreement. Post-interview offers of admission to this pathway will be granted on a conditional basis pending completion of criteria including, but not limited to, academic performance and professionalism. This conditional acceptance will be issued jointly by 91社区 and RFU.
  9. Final decisions on admission are the sole responsibility of LFC and RFUMS.
    1. Regular admission to the 91社区 BA degree will be granted by 91社区 after completion of the procedure(s) in 9.e.vi above and verified completion of the criteria in 9.e.viii.1 above. This regular admission will be conditional, pending the completion of all matriculation requirements. Furthermore, admission does not imply graduation.
    2. Regular admission to the RFU MSN degree will be granted by RFU after completion of the procedure(s) in 9.e.vii above and verified completion of the criteria in 9.e.viii.1 above. This regular admission will be conditional, pending the completion of all matriculation requirements. Furthermore, admission does not imply graduation or licensure. Similarly, licensure requirements are subject to change and can vary by location.
