Title IX Coordinator

91社区 invites applications for the position of Title IX Coordinator. The Title IX Coordinator is a full-time, 12-month position reporting to the Vice President for Campus Life. The Title IX Coordinator is responsible for equal opportunity, harassment, and nondiscrimination compliance related to Title IX, and manages the College's compliance laws and executive orders at the federal and state level, including Title IX, the Violence Against Women's Act, the Illinois Preventing Sexual Violence in Higher Education Act, and the Illinois Human Rights Act. The Title IX Coordinator assists with the Jeanne Clery Act compliance.

 

The Title IX Coordinator oversees policy development, investigation, training, and reporting, and monitor the application of 91社区 policies and relevant laws to ensure that the College's procedures are compliant. These include but are not limited to establishing and maintaining a centralized process for reporting and monitoring the equal opportunity, harassment, and nondiscrimination policy, facilitating a resolution process for complaints that is timely, fair, and neutral for all parties, and prohibiting retaliation. The role works to keep current and implement the College's relevant policies, and to advocate for a safe and respectful environment for all campus constituents.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide vision, leadership, education, and direction regarding implementation of the College's policies and procedures related to resolution of complaints involving sex discrimination and sexual harassment.
  • Oversee the College’s minors on campus policy.
  • Work closely with the Deputy Title IX Coordinators, a Title IX team, including the Dean of Students, Office of the Provost, and the Directors of Human Resources, Athletics, Residence Life, and Public Safety.
  • Provide guidance to the President’s Title IX Advisory Committee.
  • Oversee the designated resolution personnel and evaluate work assigned to resolution personnel, student workers, and volunteers.
  • Manage the office of Title IX, including budget, website, and print materials.
  • Collaborate with relevant College leaders, campus partners, and legal counsel.
  • Periodically assist with campus sexual climate survey.
  • Serve on campus committees, as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Policies and Procedures:

  • Oversee all policies and procedures related to compliance with the laws listed Overseeing all state and federal compliance requirements related to equal opportunity, harassment, and nondiscrimination, including sexual misconduct, and submitting all required reports.
  • Write (and revise when necessary) these policies and /or procedures.
  • For any claims of equal opportunity, harassment, and discrimination that intersect with other protected classes, collaborate with the appropriate campus offices on a response, as appropriate.

 

Equal Opportunity, Harassment, and Discrimination:

  • Create and oversee College policies that prohibit discrimination of protected classes and characteristics - as required by Title IX - through student recruitment, admissions, educational programs (including individual courses), research, housing, athletics, counseling, financial and employment assistance, health and insurance benefits and health services.
  • Create and oversee procedures for claims of equal opportunity, harassment, and discrimination.
  • Ensure that pregnant and parenting students have equal access to their educational environment.
  • Ensure that students who identify as transgender or non-binary have equal access to their educational environment.
  • Conduct periodic institutional audits of various departments and divisions to ensure institutional compliance with Title IX and related laws and regulations.
  • Respond to, investigate, and seek resolutions of sexual misconduct, equal opportunity, harassment and discrimination reports and complaints and ensure a fair and neutral process for all parties.
  • Meet with complainants and respondents to provide information regarding available campus and community resources, supportive measures, and reporting and resolution options.
  • Maintain records of all equal opportunity, harassment, and discrimination reports received by the College and monitor and address any trends or systemic issues.

 

Training and Education:

  • Coordinate training for employees regarding reporting obligations, the equal opportunity, harassment, nondiscrimination policy, and available resources and processes. 
  • Provide appropriate oversight and annual training for staff and faculty involved in the hearing process, including advisors, investigators, hearing panelists, and appeal decision-makers.
  • Implement mandatory education for all new employees and incoming students.
  • Oversee, lead, or recruit personnel to facilitate/mediate informal or formal processes.
  • Coordinate outreach and educational programs regarding all aspects of Title IX.

 

Case Management and Website:

  • Maintain the College's Title IX website and develop material resources for the campus community.
  • Develop and maintain communication strategies (web, print, media etc.) for the office messaging, resources, and reporting.
  • Work with Communications and Marketing for website management, as necessary.
  • Oversee, track, and maintain case management and metrics for case disposition. 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree required in higher education administration, counseling, social work or a related field; J.D. strongly preferred. Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in Title IX, student conduct, campus safety, compliance, higher education administration, and/or related legal issues, required.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Title IX and related laws, including a clear understanding of current developments in Title IX, VAWA, and Clery Act.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs for faculty, students, and staff on Title IX and sexual misconduct.
  • Ability to build trust and work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Strong skills in counseling, negotiation, conflict resolution, and conflict management.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills, including the ability to work independently to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to analyze data required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in conducting sexual misconduct investigations

Experience with a trauma informed approach

Experience with diversity, equity, inclusion work
